新作短編 Morality の全文が Esquire のサイトで読める?

米 Esquire 2009年7月号に掲載されたスティーヴン･キングの新作短編 Morality が、Esquire のサイトで読めます。どうも全文が掲載されているようですよ。（Esquire まだ買ってないので確信はないですが）

Mortality ではなく Morality が正しいタイトルかも

前の記事で「新作 Mortality 」と書きましたが、もしかすると、この短編のタイトルは Mor"t"ality （死亡率）ではなく、 Morality （道徳）かも知れません。

赤字の "H" の左、および女性の右腕前腕部には、Morality と書かれています。

2008年12月、StephenKing.com の掲示板に管理人が

Right now he's working on the edits for Under the Dome. He did finish a novella called Mortality but I don't think that's been sold for publication yet."

と書いてから今まで、この短編は "Mortality" として扱われてきましたが、それが間違いだったか、あるいは Esquire 2009年7月号の表紙製作時に間違いがあったか、のどちらかです。ただ、この短編が

story of recession

と書かれていることから、Morality のほうが正しそうです。

新作 Mortality 掲載号の表紙

キングの新作短編 Mortality は、今年2月のアナウンスどおり、Esquire Magazine 2009年7月号に掲載されることがわかりました。次の画像はその表紙。イヤッホーな表紙ですね（笑）

表紙のモデルは、Bar Refaeli さん。体のペインティングが、Mortality の冒頭部分らしいので、目を凝らして読むしかないです。お尻の左側に、

story of recession

とあるのが分かります。 Mortality とは「死亡率」のこと。

Esquire Magazine 2009年7月号は今週発売予定。Esquire は、2007年7月号にキングの短編 Gingerbread Girl（短編集 Just After Sunset にすでに収録）を掲載し、発売から2週間後には、その短編の一部をウェブサイトにも掲載したので、Mortality でも同じことをしてくれるかもしれません。

' Mortality ' は7月ごろ Esquire Magazine に掲載

昨年紹介した Mortality という小説が今年7月ごろの Esquire Magazine に掲載されるようです。

スティーヴン・キングのアシスタントが問い合わせに対して「 Mortality は今年の夏の Esquire Magazine に掲載される予定で、だいたい7月ごろが目安」と答えたとのこと。

Mortality は「死亡率」のこと。Esquire Magazine に掲載されるということは長編ではないですね。Esquire Magazine には日本版もありますが、翻訳されるのか気になります。邦訳されるとしても1年ぐらいは待つことになるでしょうが。

Mortality とは「死亡率」のこと。出版権はまだ売られてないようですが、なんとも読みたくなるタイトルです。
